Although ideally performed as flute choir (front and center stage) with two groups of various wind players distributed within the performance space, Dionysiacs is flexible enough to be performed by a lone soloist with pre-recorded ensemble, or select flute parts with augmenting pre-recorded tracks, or any number of variations. Best when performed live with the full complement, the score also calls for the extra musicians (or gli altri) to have ocarinas, nose whistles, and other instruments handy, along with their primary wind instruments.
